The Most Important Dietary Supplement for the Prevention of CVD
In the next five paragraphs I quote and paraphrase Michael Murray, ND in his book “What the Drug Companies Won’t Tell You and Your Doctor Doesn’t Know”; I present this publication regarding the prevention of Cardiovascular Disease.
Of all the nutritional products that can help prevent cardiovascular disease (CVD), the most important, without question, is pharmaceutical-grade fish oils. The concept that eating fish may reduce the risk of heart disease began in the 1970s, when it was noted that among the Eskimos in arctic Greenland, where high consumption of marine animals was the normal diet, heart disease was very low. Subsequent studies in similar cultures where fish and seafood consumption was high showed the same sort of protection. For example, the inhabitants of the Japanese Island of Okinawa, who eat primarily fish, were also observed to have a very low incidence of mortality from heart disease.
To assess the protective effects of fish against heart disease, researchers conducted large studies in which they tracked dietary intake of fish and other seafood over a long time. As the results of these studies became available in the mid-1980s and 1990s, they provided even stronger evidence that higher levels of fish consumption were associated with a lower risk of mortality from heart disease.
It is now estimated that individuals whose diets include a higher intake of fish oils, or who take supplements, can reduce their risk of heart disease or stroke by roughly 47 percent compared with individuals who do not eat fish or take supplements. In fact, the level of Omega-3 fatty acids in the red blood cells (the Omega-3 index) has been shown to be the most accurate predictor of the risk of heart disease and stroke. It is a more sensitive indicator than other well-recognized markers, including cholesterol, LDL, HDL, CRP, and homocysteine. An Omega-3 index of at least 8 percent is associated with the greatest protection against CVD.
Scientists now know that fish oils can also lower the risk of many cancers—particularly breast, prostate, colon, and lung cancer—and many other chronic diseases, including Alzheimer’s disease, asthma, depression, diabetes, high blood pressure, macular degeneration, multiple sclerosis, and rheumatoid arthritis.
Research assessing the amount of the important Omega-3 fatty acids eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) required to offer protection against heart disease (1,000 mg daily of EPA and DHA) suggests that the best way to achieve this goal is through supplementation. You simply cannot rely on fish to achieve this goal owing to the fact that mercury, PCBs, dioxins, and other contaminants are often found in fish. You need to limit your intake of fish to no more than two to three servings weekly. Follow these guidelines to reduce your chances of eating fish that is tainted with chemical toxins:
- Eat wild Pacific salmon as opposed to farm-raised salmon.
- Limit your intake of freshwater fish
- Eat smaller, young fish, as they have had less time to accumulate toxins in their fat.
My recommendation is to consume JP+ Essentials Omega Blend capsules as your highest quality supplementation of essential fatty acids in the world.
The uniqueness of JP+ Omega Blend, as compared with ANY other supplements from fish oil, is outstanding. JP+ Omega Blend is a blend of Omega-3,5,6,7,9 from plant sources, not from fish (which by the way, doesn’t make Omega-3 fatty acids, but just obtains them from the algae they eat), but from the source, algae. Also, derived from seeds of fruits and berries, leaving out the suspicion of whether or not the fats are contaminated. Also, JP+ Omega Blend capsules have a proprietary manufacturing process whereby they are encapsulated with a tapioca starch “cold-pressed” process eliminating the use of heat which can denature the fats. Also, JP+ adds a single “nitrogen bubble” to prevent oxidation of the essential fatty acids.
There is NO OTHER source of Essential Fatty Acids like this in the world! And not to be outdone, JP+ Omega Blend has a randomized controlled scientific study, published in highly esteemed, peer-reviewed, journals establishing the benefits of supplementation with JP+ Essentials Omega Blend Capsules. This study found that plant-based JP+ Essentials Omega Blend Capsules significantly increased the Omega-3 index after 8 weeks of supplementation, with an even greater increase seen after 16 weeks.
The Omega-3-Index measures the amount of the Omega-3 fatty acids DHA and EPA in red blood cells. Achieving an Omega-3 index of 8-12% has been linked with a variety of positive health outcomes.
